A minivan dead in Tottenville is not a Brooklyn Navy Yard job until the lookup says so. Searching Staten Island towing from Charleston, St. George, or the Verrazzano approach is the right move. The five boroughs are one jurisdiction. The island still changes the routing.
There is no published Staten Island NYPD pound
The NYPD publishes three parking-tow pounds: 2444 Exterior Street in the Bronx, the Brooklyn Navy Yard at Sands Street and Navy Street, and 31-22 College Point Boulevard in Queens. A Staten Island tow pound is not on that list. We do not invent one. If the curb is empty in New Dorp or Port Richmond, use the city’s Find Towed Vehicle search and NYC 311 before you file a stolen-car report.
NYC 311’s towed-vehicle article tells drivers that a car towed for illegal parking in Staten Island may need the local precinct, not a named island pound. Confirm that on the live 311 page. Do not assume the Navy Yard has every plate from the island.
Private lots, apartment yards, and shopping plazas on the island still fall under DCWP rules. A licensed operator stores the car inside city limits, within 10 miles of the removal point. The published cap is $125 for removal plus the first three days, $15 a day after, and a $62.50 drop fee if you catch the truck. Cite and re-check DCWP’s towing consumer page before you pay.
Quick Tow NYC is a referral service. We match drivers with independent local operators. We do not own trucks. We do not run a yard on Bay Street. We are not a DCWP-licensed towing operator. The price is quoted before dispatch. We publish no brand figure.
Verrazzano, parkways, and why “the island” is not a pin
The Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge carries heavy daily volume. A job that starts in Brooklyn and ends in Tottenville is a bridge crossing, not a local hook. Say which side you are on. Say whether the car can roll. A disabled vehicle in a live lane on the bridge approach is a 911 call first.
Commercial vehicles, trucks, and tow trucks are banned on NYC parkways, including the Korean War Veterans Parkway on the island. A wrecker that is legal on Hylan Boulevard can be illegal on that parkway. Give the road name. “Staten Island” is not a location. “Hylan and New Dorp Lane, red Odyssey, hazards on” is.
Driveways in Tottenville, lots near the ferry in St. George, and industrial streets off Richmond Terrace are different access. A long driveway needs a winch conversation if the car is in mud or a flood pocket. A ferry-terminal garage needs height and level. We already covered borough-pound lookup on where they take a towed car. This page stays on getting a truck to the island, or off it.
Coverage is the five boroughs. A hop to New Jersey over the Goethals or to Nassau is out except as a long-distance destination. Mileage is stated in the quote. We do not print a per-mile number.
What dispatch needs on an island job
Make, model, year, drivetrain.
Exact spot. Cross streets, a landmark (ferry terminal, hospital, mall name), or a driveway address. If you are on the Korean War Veterans Parkway, say so, so the operator uses a legal street.
What failed. Jump, tire, fuel, crash, overheating, keys locked in. A battery on a curb is jump-start help. A crash with police on scene is after an accident.
If the car is already gone, stop requesting a hook. Use 311, the towed-vehicle lookup, and the precinct if 311 sends you there. Do not drive to Exterior Street on a guess.
Brooklyn has a named Navy Yard pound and Belt/BQE routing. We wrote that as tow truck Brooklyn. Staten Island is the island without a listed parking pound, plus parkway and bridge constraints. That is the distinction. It is not a city-name swap.
The line is answered around the clock. Calls are recorded after a notice. New York is a one-party-consent state for recording. You will hear the notice.
When to call us
A breakdown on Staten Island stops being a neighbor-with-cables job when the parkway bans the truck, the driveway is too long, or the space is empty and you need the city’s lookup. Call us at (929) 356-7857. The line is answered around the clock, and an independent local operator gets the assignment once the quote is stated.
